Earlier this week, I shared some images of my "dream homes" with you. It's safe to say that I have a similar obsession with kitchens. Like many of you, more than half of my time at home is spent in the kitchen. It really should be called the living room. It's inevitable then that images like these make me drool.

It's no surprise that I have an entire board over at Pinterest dedicated to my "Someday Kitchen". While I've been plotting this space in my head (and occasionally on paper) for years, an actual renovation is light years away. In the meantime, here are some of my favorite, inspiring kitchens. Can you tell what they all have in common?
Our kitchen is currently an L-shape with a wall and small doorway separating it from the living room. Ideally we'd like to open up the space between the two and work with a layout similar to this. I love everything, and I mean everything, about this kitchen, especially the fireplace.

I love the salvaged corbels Sarah Richardson used in her farmhouse between her dining room and kitchen. The warm colors, textures and patterns make this space so inviting.

I love the idea of a comfy banquette under a sunny window, but love the gorgeous upholstered chairs even more.
This kitchen over at For the Love of a House took my breath away though.
Look at all of those deep drawers.
From the layout, fixtures and finishes, to the fireplace I would flank with windows, a banquette or maybe some built-ins, I fell in-love.
Yup, love white cabinets! They just look fresh and clean. Those upholstered yellow chairs are divine.
ReplyDeleteHey Erin, We did our kitchen over a year ago, but I still have far from my dream kitchen. I have the white cabinets, hardwood floor, black counters, and cup pull handles that I love, but I was stressed and rushed and money conscious! I also was very in love with the tiny, beat up kitchen I had lived with for 18 years! It sounds crazy, but to me, small is cozy and I made a lot of great meals in that kitchen, so I was reluctant to change too much when it came to layout. I lost ten pounds during the reno because I was so ill about all the decisions and how, if I sneezed, that cost extra. We opened the kitchen to the dining room, but I wish I would have opened it to the living room as well, so I could look at my fireplace while in the kitchen. At this point, it wouldn't take that much to tweak it, and add a few more cabinets, but we have college in four years, and well, you know how that goes. Anyway, I love parts of it a lot, but feel that I failed to do what I should have done when I had the chance. I'd post a pic here, but I don't know if I can.
ReplyDeletei think we always want what we don't have. i've recently moved into a new home and the kitchen is very nice and big... but [of course] i want something completely different and can't even bring myself to photograph my existing kitchen for the blog, because it just isn't me. i doesn't reflect my design personality.
ReplyDeletei love dreaming of new kitchens.... love your pins!
That kitchen with fireplace is beautiful and I also really like the banquette seating area - that's really awesome. I'd love to have a huge island with tons of storage and lots of windows, a banquette seating area, a coffee bar...I could go on and on!
ReplyDeleteErin,
ReplyDeleteI think we agree on what defines our perfect kitchen! I love all of these for the same reasons. They are white, warm and wonderful!
